Milliner on the Move
Creating with natural hand collected features
I am a milliner and I create bespoke headwear for rural, regional and remote women who have a special event to attend but limited access to retail shops or opportunities to shop. I offer one to one consultations both in person and online, and showcase my work by exhibitions, through my online website store and as the Milliner on the Move.
Millinery has been a creative passion of mine for over 20 years. I began creating on remote outback cattle and sheep stations, simply altering ladies hats for the local races and the journey has evolved naturally from there. My small Broome home-based business, Hats by Felicity has been operating since 2007.
Self-taught in the art of Millinery I find myself constantly surrounded by the endless inspiration of rural, regional and remote Australia and combine the colours and textures of the magnificent Kimberley and Australian outback to create headwear fashion for women around the world.
My creations are handmade using the classic techniques of millinery and every creation is a one-off. Feathers are hand collected by people around the country and the pearls are locally grown in the south sea waters near Broome. I have proudly showcased on the runway of New York Fashion Week for three consecutive years (2014, 2015 and 2016) and have been chosen to represent Australia in the Great Hat Exhibition of London Hat Week for two consecutive years (2018 and 2019).
I am passionate about rural, regional and remote Australia. As the Milliner on the Move I bring collections of headwear to the people, primarily in remote regions, with a focus on bringing everyone together for an evening of laughter, fun and hats. I have recently launched a custom designed range of retail hats for adults and children (even toddlers) which are retailing throughout Australia and I also sell these as milliner on the move and through my online website store.
Hats by Felicity is my art, pride and joy and whether a creation walks the streets, paddocks, racetrack or runway it celebrates everyone who has been a part of the journey.
